Lush meadows of flowers and herbs, wooded hills and mountains, clear streams and wild rivers, and of course vineyards, shape the landscape of the Corbières. But this beautiful region has much more to offer: some of the best Mediterranean beaches in all of Southern France, for a start. Then there are the famous Cathar castles, which have been waiting since 2017 for their final inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The Cité of Carcassonne (UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Canal du Midi, the nearby Pyrenees and, not to be forgotten, the lovely town of Narbonne with its impressive cathedral and the Basilica of Saint-Paul (one of the oldest Gothic churches in Southern France), its Art Nouveau covered market, the excavations of the "Via Domitia" in the middle of the town centre and, since 2022, the newly opened and highly recommended museum "Narbo Via". Picturesque lanes and squares and the Canal de la Robine give this enchanting town its character, as do nice boutiques, cafés, restaurants and delicatessens.
The Corbières are less than an hour's drive from the Spanish border. Day trips to the nearby Costa Brava and beautiful Catalonia are therefore a must.
The possibilities are almost endless. You will certainly not be bored here.
